Access to mental health support is a basic human right.

Ria believes that finances should never be a barrier to anyone wanting to seek mental health support or counselling. If you are a student or experiencing financial hardship, talk to Ria and she can help you explore a number of options to access funding for therapy.

Employee Assistance Programs

Many organizations offer EAP which usually funds 3-6 sessions free of charge. Check with your employer for access to EAP, as Ria is affiliated with several EAP providers.

Insurance Cover

Some health insurance policies have an allowance each year for mental health appointments (for example, the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Insurance plan). Check with your insurer to see whether they cover sessions with a psychologist.

Gumboot Friday

If you are 25 years old or under, you may qualify for free counselling between 2-4 sessions through the Gumboot Friday Platform. Search for Ria on the ‘Choose a Counsellor‘ page and send her a message to become a client.

WINZ Counselling Support

If you have a mental health issue that is likely to affect you for 6 months or more, you may be eligible for WINZ funding support. Click to find out how you can apply for this subsidy.

First Steps (ends 30th June 2023)

If you are a business owner and are based in a weather-affected region, you may be eligible for 3 sessions of counselling funded by The Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Click here to apply or talk to Ria.

ACC Sensitive Claims & Mental Injury Cover
